Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry is ready to tell his side of the story.
Perry will release his autobiography, Rocks: My Life in and Out of Aerosmith, on October 7th.
The guitarist admits that he has wanted to write a book for quite some time, but did not want to step on the books of bandmates. Drummer Joey Kramer released a memoir called Hit Hard: A Story of Hitting Rock Bottom at the Top in 2009. Front-man Steven Tyler released Does the Noise in My Head Bother You? in 2011.
Joe Perry plans on addressing Tyler's opinions. On Tyler's book, Perry explains:
"It's definitely Steven's truth, no doubt about it. He's allowed to perceive things how he perceives things. He can write his book any way he wants. But I didn't agree with a lot of the things he said. I know he worked hard on it, but it's got a totally different tenor and energy than my book. Mine tends to be a little more traditional. It's an autobiography in the real classic sense. I just hope Steven accepts the things I say about how I felt and how I saw things happen. I don't put words in other people's mouths or talk about conversations that I wasn't there for."
Specifically, Perry wants to address the band's recent history. "Not a lot of truth has come out about the last 20 years of the band," says Perry.
