Paul McCartney and his band played a surprise concert in New York's Times Square on Thursday afternoon.

McCartney tweeted the news around noon and showed up at 1 PM.  According to Rolling Stone, a crowd gathered around a truck by about 12:45.  A lot of people were there to see McCartney, but many were not sure what was going to happen.

When McCartney arrived, a curtain was pulled back from the truck to reveal a small stage.  Paul played four songs from his upcoming New album.

We doubt he needs the cash, but he told the crowd, "I'll be putting a little hat out here later.  We're basically busking."
