For the first time in three years, U2 performed on stage on Saturday night, according to Billboard.

The group's surprise performance was at Sean Penn's third annual Help Haiti benefit at a hotel in Beverly Hills.  U2's brief full band set featured I Will Follow, Desire, and Vertigo.  Bono and The Edge also performed with Haitian singer Ananelle Jean-Pierre.

U2 is expected to release a new album in April.  An official announcement is expected during this year's Super Bowl.
