The Beverly Hills Police Department seems to have made a huge mistake.
Thursday night, TMZ reported that former Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland spent the past month in prison on charges related to meth possession and burglary.
But, that's not true.
Somebody named Jason Michael Hurley, who apparently looks like Scott Weiland, has been in prison for a month on charges related to meth possession and burglary.
TMZ claims that the Beverly Hills Police Department made a "BIG mistake."
The "BIG mistake" first came to everybody's attention when Scott Weiland himself shared a video of Facebook explaining that he was not in prison.
At first, the police stuck to their story. Because, when Hurley was picked up by the cops, he told them that we was Weiland.
Even though Hurley had been locked up since July 26, a "belated FBI fingerprint analysis" confirmed the police department's mistake. Of course, even that seems a little unbelievable. How does somebody spend a month in prison under a false identity?
Weiland is best known for his work with Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver. In 2013, Stone Temple Pilots fired Weiland and replaced him with Linkin Park's Chester Bennington.
