This is not a "Don't try this at home" scenario.
In fact, you should try it at home before you try it anywhere else.
Jim Koch, the co-founder and chairman of the Boston Beer Company (the guy in all of those Sam Adams commercials) tells Esquire that he has a trick for what to do to keep yourself from getting hammered when you're drinking beer all night.
Before you drink, eat Fleischmann's dry yeast. Koch stirs in yogurt to make it edible. "One teaspoon per beer, right before you start drinking."
Koch drinks beer for a living. He's got to be able to handle it and this is apparently backed by some science. Joseph Owades (AKA Dr. Joe) had a PhD in biochemistry. He knew a lot about fermentation and alcohol metabolism. The science is that the dry yeast has an enzyme called alcohol dehydrogenases which will start breaking down alcohol before it hits your bloodstream.
Koch notes, "It will mitigate, not eliminate, but mitigate the effects of alcohol."

The summary is that this may help slow the effects of alcohol, but it won't make them completely go away. Drink responsibly and do not drink and drive.
