Two men chased down protesters in New Mexico over the weekend.  The protesters were waving the American flag while riding a scooter.  The flag was upside down.

Flying the flag upside down was originally meant as a distress signal, but has become a sign of protest for many people.  The US Flag Code states, "The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property."

Using the flag as a form of protest has a long history.  Flag burning is considered protected free speech.

Apparently the two men who took issue with the protest were a marine and soldier.

After running after the protesters, one can be heard saying, “I don’t give a [expletive] what the symbol is.  We serve our [expletive] country and that’s bull[expletive].”
