Johnny Marr is finally bringing his own message to U.S. music stores. The former Smiths guitarist has released his highly anticipated solo debut, The Messenger.
Marr explained when he first announced the record last year that he had reached a point in his lengthy career where he didn't want to be in "someone else's band" anymore. He said he's been blessed to be a part of groups with great singers, but now he's ready to be the one standing up front.
And Marr tells The Hollywood Reporter he likes his new gig as a frontman. He'll have plenty of opportunities to play the part next month during his U.K. tour, which starts March 10th. He's also set to embark on a tour of North America beginning April 11th with a show in Las Vegas.
