Dave Grohl 'Cried A Little' When Weezer Covered Nirvana's 'Lithium' Live

Foo Fighters' Sonic Highway World Tour At The Forum

Weezer and the Foo Fighters traveled down south for a slew of South American shows, including sets at Rock in Rio over the weekend, and Rivers Cuomo and company hit Dave Grohl right in the feels during their performance at the Brazilian festival. Weezer played right before the Foos' headlining set on Saturday (September 28) and decided to pay tribute to Nirvana during their set.

"We’re going to cover a song from Dave Grohl’s old band,” Cuomo said before launching into a cover of the Nevermind track, "Lithium."

When Grohl hit the stage later, he divulged how Weezer's cover made him feel before dedicating "Big Me" to the band.

“I was backstage and I heard Weezer play the ‘Lithium’ song and I’ve got to be honest, I cried a little bit. I miss playing that song. So this song goes out to Weezer,” he said (via NME).

He also confirmed that his band plans on making the followup to 2017's Concrete and Gold after tour ends. “I don’t know when we’ll be back down here again, but we will,” he said. “We go home next week and we start making a new Foo Fighters record. It’s good, it’s good.”
