Baltimore Orioles star Trey Mancini successfully passed a huge milestone this year. But not one on the baseball field.
Mancini successfully completed a six month chemotherapy program on Monday after he was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in early March. Needless to say, Mancini has not played a game this season while undergoing treatment.
Sara Perlman, Mancini's girlfriend, tweeted the news. "TREY DID IT!!!! He [completed] chemotherapy!!! What a six months it has been. I’ve never been more proud & joyful, this is the best day ever!!!! Thank you for all the love and support. We are SOOOO grateful!!!!
The Orioles congratulated Mancini with a team photo signed by players with words of encouragement. “I don’t know what to say,” Mancini said in a video of him seeing the photo for the first time. “I’m speechless now. This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever gotten, and I’m always going to cherish this.”
Mancini hopes he can be fully recovered by the time the team suits up for the 2021 season.
