Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Yordano Ventura has died in a car accident at the age of 25, according to the MLB.
Ventura was an integral part of the Royals' World Series victory in 2015, going 13-8 in that season. He was noted for having nearly as much passion for the game as he did in raw talent.
Ventura was involved in a number of on-field scuffles, including one involving Orioles player Manny Machado in 2016.
"We've been group texting all morning, trying to make sense of it," said Royals left fielder Alex Gordon. "Very hard, lost a brother."
