Matt Wieters Gets Standing Ovation in Return to Baltimore

Former Orioles catcher Matt Wieters made his first return to Baltimore since joining the Washington Nationals during the offseason and was greeted with a standing ovation.

Wieters entered the batter's box in the top of the 3rd inning, but had to step out as the cheers grew louder. He acknowledged the fans who were on their feet as a show of respect. Wieters played his first 8 seasons with the Orioles before signing with the Nationals in the off-season as a free agent.

Wieters went 1 – 4 in a game that saw the Orioles hit three home runs in the first inning. The O's held on for a 6 – 4 win.
