A famous roller coaster at Kings Dominion is getting a new name. The Rebel Yell, a racing wooden roller coaster that opened in 1975 will now be called "Racer 75."
While Kings Dominion has not explicitly said the change is being made in response to cutting ties to Confederate iconography, it's timing comes shortly after state legislature made a decision to leave it up to local governments to retain or destroy Confederate statues.
The new name for the coaster comes from the racing nature of the ride having two trains running side by side, having ACE in the name for the American Coaster Enthusiasts organization and 75, for when the coaster opened.
