Orioles Trade Schoop, Gausman, O'Day at Deadline

The Baltimore Orioles completed two more trades before the Trade Deadline, sending Jonathan Schoop to the Milwaukee Brewers and pitchers Kevin Gausman and Darren O'Day to the Atlanta Braves.

With the trade of superstar Manny Machado to the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 19th, the club made it clear that it was ready to begin a rebuild. The trades made today bring the team's total to six players traded including Machado.

In return for Schoop, the Orioles got three players from the Brewers. For Gausman and O'Day, the Orioles got four prospects plus international signing bonus money. The Orioles received international signing bonus money in a trade in which they dealt Brad Brach to the Atlanta Braves, making it clear that the team is now serious about tapping into the international player market, which they have not done.

Overall, the Orioles acquired 15 players and two international player slots in return for 6 players. The team hopes that at least a few of these 15 newly acquired players will be MLB-caliber players in 2019 and beyond.
