According to Rolling Stone, Woodstock 50 has been moved from New York state to Columbia, MD and Merriweather Post Pavilion.
The iconic festival has been plagued with issues since it was informally announced in January. The lineup, though impressive and featuring names like Jay-Z, The Black Keys, The Killers, Santana, Dead & Company and David Crosby, was announced much later that anticipated. Then, a series of failed permits for a location came in, The Black Keys dropped out, ticket sales were delayed, investors dropped out, and the list goes on.
It seemed Woodstock 50 was doomed. But now, multiple sources are reporting that the festival will now be at Merriweather, a venue with a capacity much smaller than the 150,000 attendees originally anticipated. And it will take place on the dates it was scheduled to take place in upper New York, August 16-18. There's no word yet on whether or not the artists who were scheduled to appear at the festival in NY are confirmed for the move to Maryland.
There's just one other issue: The Smashing Pumpkins and Noel Gallagher already have a show scheduled at Merriweather on August 17. The concert is still listed on Merriweather's concert calendar with no sign of Woodstock. 🤔
