Two weeks after the debut of the Popeyes chicken sandwich, it's now sold out nationwide.
"Y'all. We love that you love The Sandwich. Unfortunately we're sold out (for now)." Popeyes writes in a tweet.
The company says although the sandwiches are gone for now, they're going to bring it back "as soon as possible" although no specific date as to when was revealed.
Popeye's said the demand far exceeded expectations after the sandwich made its debut on August 12th. The company believed supplies of the sandwiches would last until the end of September but ended up not even getting to half of that.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Popeyes says:
Popeyes aggressively forecasted demand through the end of September and has already sold through that inventory. As a result, Popeyes restaurants across the country are expected to sell out of the Chicken Sandwich by the end of this week. We, along with our suppliers, are working tirelessly to bring the new sandwich back to guests as soon as possible."
The company is urging customers to download their app and turn on notifications so they'll be the first to know when the sandwich returns.
