Man Stabbed to Death Over Chicken Sandwich at MD Popeyes

The hysteria surrounding the Popeyes chicken sandwich has resulted in countless violent altercations over the past few months. And yesterday (November 4), that hysteria turned deadly.

A fight broke out at a Popeyes restaurant in Oxon Hill, MD around 7 PM when police say one man cut in line. The altercation reportedly escalated and moved outside where one man was stabbed.

Responding PG County police officers say they found a 28-year old man in the parking lot of the Popeyes suffering from stab wounds. The victim was taken to the hospital where he reportedly died about an hour later from his injuries.

PGPD Director of Media Relations Jennifer Donelan says, "We have been able to determine, preliminarily, that this is related to the release of the sandwich here at this restaurant... this individual was in line specifically for the sale of the sandwich when another customer and he got into an altercation and that ended with the victim being stabbed outside of the business."

Police are investigating the incident and are reportedly still trying to locate a suspect involved in the stabbing.
