Hero Cop Stops Out-Of-Control Car With His Bare Hands, Saves Kids' Lives

Monday seemed like a calm day for one police officer in Bridgeport, Connecticut, but the day quickly became anything but. Officer Carlos Carmo, Jr. was redirecting traffic away from a street he was blocking with his car as nearby Harding High School was letting out. While vehicles drove past him, he noticed something not right with one black SUV. The car had two passengers but no driver and it was quickly moving down a hill. He immediately took off after the out-of-control vehicle as it sped towards a sidewalk full of school kids on their way home. Somehow, Carmo was not only able to catch up to the SUV, but grab it's door frame and plant his feet in the ground, pulling the car to a stop just before it would've gone onto the sidewalk and caused a tragedy.

The officer was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and is now being hailed a hero.

The Bridgeport Police Department released a statement about the officer that says, "Officer Carmo has been with the Bridgeport Police Department for four years. He is being recognized for his bravery, selflessness, and quick thinking in this emergency situation that could have been tragic had he not intervened."
