KFC Is Ditching Potato Wedges for "Secret Recipe" Fries Nationwide

Last year, KFC began testing "Secret Recipe Fries" in a select markets in the US. Now, the fries are set to become available nationwide, replacing potato wedges on the menu.

According to multiple sources, KFC has confirmed the news.

A KFC rep told Thrillist, "We can confirm that KFC's Secret Recipe Fries (tested last year) are rolling out nationally to replace wedges. While we know there are wedge-lovers out there who may be disappointed, consumer response to our Secret Recipe Fries during the test and the rollout has been overwhelmingly positive."

The news isn't going over so well on social media so far. One Twitter user responded, "y’all just voluntarily threw away the best side? make it make sense." Another responded with "now that i've eaten the new kfc fries, i can conclude that they are vastly inferior to potato wedges and humanity has lost an iconic menu item."

KFC is also testing out a new "premium" chicken sandwich it hopes will rival the popular Popeyes Chicken Sandwich.
