Queen Elizabeth II penned one last diary entry that contained just five words shortly before her passing in September 2022.
According to People, the beloved royal remained "diligent" and "practical" until her very last day, as reflected in her regularly-updated journal.
The date was September 6, 2022, just two days before Queen Elizabeth's passing. The mother-of-two spent her final days at Balmoral Castle in Scotland and was sure to bring her diary to keep documentation steady despite her condition.
The updated version of Robert Hardman's Charles III: New King. New Court: The Inside Story, released on November 7, reveals the final words Queen Elizabeth ever wrote.
So it's told, the late matriarch scribed "Edward came to see me" in her diary before departing the Earth on September 8, 2022.
The "Edward" to which the former Queen was referring to was her private secretary, Sir Edward Young, who assisted her with royal duties the day the diary entry was created.
People mentioned that Queen Elizabeth had been quoted saying that she had "no time to record conversations, only events," and her last journal entry did just that. The late royal's son, King Charles III, also keeps a detailed journal of "recollections and reflections" of which he does his best to update at the end of each day.
